Meet… Hot Smoked American Eels

Most Unagi you eat has circumnavigated the globe on some unknown path to your plate. At American Unagi, we have chosen to do things better. The eels are hot smoked using a traditional European recipe of oak and alderwood. The high natural fat content of our eels, paired with a salt brine and rich smoke flavor, creates a savory, delicate, and versatile product. Whether served as an appetizer, salad topper, or entree, it has a satisfying combinations of flavors rich in proteins that naturally high in vitamin D and A.

Hot Smoked American eel fillets -- vacuum packed and previously frozen. Will contain 4 ounces per pack.

Consume within 5 days of receiving.

American Unagi

World-class eels sourced exclusively from Maine’s well-managed fishery, raised in a land- based aquaculture system located on the coast of Maine, and fed a high quality diet without the use of hormones or antibiotics. We receive our product as juvenile eels, which are harvested in the spring by local, permitted, commercial fishermen from coastal Maine. We therefore provide our customers with a responsibly raised and 100% traceable product that is the best in its class.

How to Care and Prepare Seafood

It's a lot easier than you'd think. Follow this simple, 3 ingredient recipe to make a delicious eel sauce to go with your unagi!

Ingredients:

½ cup soy sauce

½ cup white sugar

½ cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)

Instructions: Heat soy sauce, sugar, and mirin into a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until liquid is reduced to about 3/4 cup
